What Is Involved?

There is no special preparation necessary to do before having a colonic.

We just advice that you don't have a large meal prior to the procedure.

We expect that on your first visit that you may feel nervous and apprehensive about the procedure. We will soon put you at ease. Your first appointment will involve taking a case history, explaining the procedure and the treatment itself.

A brief rectal examination will be carried out to make sure that there is nothing that I need to be aware of. Then a speculum will be inserted 4cm (1.5 inch) to keep the sphincter open. Then an inlet and outlet pipe will be attached (so that water can flow in and out). The waste goes straight down the drain so there is no odour or mess.

You will start on your left side for a short while and then you will be asked to roll on to your back where gentle massage can be given to help release impacted matter and release any gas pockets.

Herbal infusions may be used if indicated.

The treatment takes approx 30-45 minutes.
